Import staff from CSV
Create several accounts at once. Columns: first, last, email, role, password. Leave password blank to auto-generate one. Roles: keyperson, teacher, middle_leader, senior_leader, office, childminder, board, admin. Anyone whose email already has an account is skipped (merged), so it’s safe to re-run. After importing, set each person’s access and assign them to their classes/forms below.
Tidy teacher names
Names were typed in several places before they were all in one place, so one teacher can be
Mr Reuben on a roster, Reuben Trotter on a class and Reuben Previn Trotter on the account —
three people as far as every dropdown is concerned. This gathers them into one row per person, lets you set the
name the school actually uses, and writes it everywhere including the account. Names with no account at
all are listed separately, because those are people who were missed rather than misspelled. Only the ones you
tick are changed, and anything that could be two different people is left for you to settle.
The timetable and the accounts
Grid’s timetable now feeds everyone’s access by itself: a teacher timetabled to a class can open it, for the
subjects they teach there, as soon as the timetable is saved — on top of anything set here by hand. That only works for names
in the timetable that match an account. This lists any that do not, so nobody is quietly left out.
Access from Staffing
Y7–13 subject teachers are already recorded on the dashboard, class by class, in Staffing.
This reads that and writes it into each person’s access, so the same fact is not kept in two places.
Primary is left alone — a primary teacher’s own class is set here by hand, and nothing below touches it.
Nothing is written until you have read the list.

What each role can do
This is set once for the school and applies to everyone holding that role — it is not the same as a person’s classes and subjects, which are set against each name above. Admins always have everything, so that nobody can tick away the school’s way back in.
